In case you were curious...

I was thinking about "things." What makes me tick...fills me with joy. I thought it might be fun to share with you...you know, in case you were curious...

And I just thought it would be a fun exercise for me to do...as I haven't really sat down and thought of things like this for awhile...

So...what makes me "tick?"
  • The wind...I love it...from soft breezes to gusty whipping bursts.  The wind clears the cobwebs out of my brain.
  • Lip gloss...but not lip stick.  I love the brand softlips...it's like silk.
  • Putting on headphones and listening to great music...tuning out the world and getting completely lost in a song.
  • A foreign accent...*swoon*
  • Cologne...but just a touch...where you can't really smell it until you get really really close...and then it's  subtle and sexy.  And I still love Kouros...and Obsession for men.  God...I am such an 80's girl!
  • A book so good that you can't put it down...gosh it's been awhile...any suggestions?
  • Trader Joe's multigrain tortilla chips dipped in hummus (this is a new obsession for me...omg...so good!).
  • Going to bed with just washed sheets...still smelling of fabric softener.
  • Talking on the phone with my oldest friends.
  • The way a close friend touches your arm when you are talking or laughing.
  • Reading a poem or a quote so profound it "goes straight to your heart" and stays with you.
  • The way a photograph can completely transport you someplace else.
  • Daydreaming of traipsing around Europe...eating delicious food, people watching and getting lost in the beauty and art.
  • Sleeping in and staying up late...and being the only one awake when everyone is sleeping and the house is quiet and still.
  • The way fresh cotton candy melts on my tongue...ohhhh and the color!  Heaven...
  • Taking a few moments each day to breathe...I mean just stop what I am doing, close my eyes and breathe. Deeply. Simply, connecting to my soul through my breath and awareness.

So that's a short list...but what a fun exercise!  Ahhhhh...

So what about you?  I would love to hear what makes you tick.

What a beautiful list you complied. I've lost what little creative train of thought I have at the moment but if it returns soon. I'll post a list.
I'm loving these types of lists.

    What makes me tick:

A blank crossword puzzle and sharp pencil.
Morning sunlight heating up a book's page.
    Unopened photographs from the printer.
    A letter from a friend.
    The smell of a bonfire.
Spontaneous trips to different towns just to have lunch or stroll the storefronts.
Being current in my journal writing.
    Good food and company.
A newly found author with a series of books.
    Drawing.
Listening to another person's true laugh.

    More for me too...............

Oh and my partner still wears Kouros and though this book is a few years old 2008, I really liked City of Thieves by David Benioff. Plot: During the siege of Leningrad, this novel's central characters are sent on an impossible mission: locate one dozen fresh eggs.

It is harrowing, funny, and grabs you at the heart. Takes place during WWII, so it sometimes reads like a mini-Quentin Tarentino movie..if you can handle that, then the rewards by the book's end are greatly deserved.

I love your list. I especially love the wind - it makes me think of my toddler, who, when a good breeze or wind comes along, puts his hands up in the air, closes his eyes, and smiles like he is on the greatest ride in the world!

I am doing "I Love" Wednesdays on my blog - the things that make me tick. That way it gives me a whole week to come up with the newest thing that I love!

This is a great list, Caroline. Many would be on my list as well. Here are a few I would add:
    Watching children sleeping
    Watching children playing
    Watching children smiling
Witnessing people who are healing their lives
Even better is when I can help them
Having a cat or dog by my side
Feeling my husband reach over to me while he is sleeping
Watching his face when he is being funny and boyish...love this
Walking on the beach and seeing dolphins and birds
    Being in a garden
Listening to crickets on a summer's eve
finding a plant growing in an odd place
finding a great shell or rock on the beach
Making something that doesn't fall apart when I pick it up!
Having someone else clean my house
Sipping coffee on a slow morning

I could go on but this is not a slow morning and i have to work on my taxes! Have a great day filled with your wish list! xo

great list Caroline...you make me think here;)

    loooove this list.

and i don't know a woman who doesn't love obssession for men!

A british accent does it for me, too. And some of the '80s colognes are wonderful. Remember Halston Z40 ?
Your list was great. We've had enough wind gusts this week to leave the skies clear once the rain is gone, that will be so pretty.
I love clean sheets, clean towels, a clean kitchen, fresh flowers, the smell of a fruit pie baking in the oven.

I absolutely love your list. Now I need to go think about what would be on my list. I love your blog, Caroline. You make evolving look so fabulous.

I feel better just reading your list!! It's awesome! Thanks for sharing Caroline!

For me, catching up on my favorite blogs with a cat curled up on my lap, and three snoring dogs at my feet. :)

Oh man...these are so fun to read! Thanks for sharing! xoxo

You have such a wonderful list. Here are a few of the things on mine:

    A painting that transports me.
    A child's unending giggles.
    The warm sun on me.
    The silence of prayer.
The right word in the right poem.
A photograph showing the human "heart".

    Love, love, love this photo!

I did a list of 100 Things That I Love many moons ago. It was a fun exercise. It was also the #2 post I ever did. Here are a few things that make me tick, off the cuff:

    - definitely the smell & feel of just washed sheets
    - my cats contented purr
    - the delicious tingly feeling of a lover's touch
    - puppy breath
    - the sound of a lawn mower off in the distance on a summer evening
    - the smell of bbq on the air

Seriously...I could go on & on.

    Blessings,
    Carolynn

I like the wind too... not any wind... but some, really make my heart sing.

    Getting lost in creative pursuits.

    Walking... i love to walk.

Sharing a meal in good company.

    Laughing.

Wonderful list Caroline and thanks for letting us join in! Here's a few of my favorite things:

The smell of burning leaves in Fall
    The first snowfall
The smell of sidewalks after rain on a summer day
Going out to dinner with friends and family
The smell of coffee in the morning
Reading a good book, under a throw, by a roaring fireplace, with my cat on my lap
    English accents
and the smell of "Polo" by Ralph Lauren (uh huh - talk about an 80's girl!)

so many of yours, are mine, too.....

    I'll add.....

hot tea with french vanilla creamer
    doves white chocolate squares
    long drives in the country
the long slow smile of a teenager letting me know I'm not so bad after all.....
    and
the warmth that seeps into me while sitting next to my furry four legged baby

I love your list - so many of them I share with you. Let's see... a good cup of tea, fav music played loud (annoys hubby so I do it when he's out), 'John Stewart' (Adore him! well, you knew that), the sky the sky the sky, poetry, creating some art, knitting something that actually turns out like it should, oh - and right now gaining the trust of a sweet little stray cat - magical!

    Hey Sweetie!

It is me *Dreamwriter* under a my real name and NEW Blog..I, too am forever evolving.

I followed your blog at The Zen in You!

Love this new blog of yours!

    TERY (Dreamwriter)

what is it about foreign accents? The guy could be as ugly as sin but that (insert accent here) makes him the sexiest man on the planet. I just don't get it, but I too am a sucker

So nice to learn more about the real you, Caroline. I share many of your favorites. The one I share today is pure companionship with my beloved. No place to go. Nothing to do. Just being together as we are....

    I love your list too.
SnoCones in stripes of syrup, Daffodils and strawberries in spring time, Toes in a rippling brook in the summer, walks on the beach, Candles, and warm fires in the winter.

What a delightful and happy list, Caroline! I love how it reveals your spirit and that things that make you happy. I'm going to look for softlips lip gloss - lol! I love just-washed sheets, too; I spray mine with linen spray when I make the bed. And that touch of a friend is an instant connection of love, isn't it? A book suggestion? I always recommend "Happy Yoga"; wise words about happiness.
