My heart...so big...bursting...overflowing...pouring.
For you.
None of which you take.
Leave me standing in the cold.
Wondering...why?
I do it all for you.
Yet, you never see any of it.
You are so unaware.
You have no idea how much you are wanted.
Loved.
Desired.
Yet, I still do it all for you.
I would give you my heart.
And you don't even know me.
I take this pain.
Over and over again.
I take this pain.
Over and over again.
Yet, I am not afraid.
Such a silly girl I am.
Wishing upon the stars.
For you to just notice me.
Once...

I was totally inspired to write this poem when I came across this amazing photo. Cat is such a soulful photographer. Her work is deep and always moving. Please do yourself a HUGE favor and check out her photostream, My Imaginary World (especially her set titled "me"). You'll get lost...in that beautiful way you need to get lost...so you can find yourself.
So how about that little detour today?
Yowza!
Take a peek...I am blooming 365 days in 2010

Okay my friend I will dip myself in her imaginary world and float away for some time.
Thanks for this breathtaken poem.
Caroline your poem would make perfect lyrics for a song. :)
Soulful is a good way to describe Cat's work. Her passion and love for her craft are intense. Thanks
Stirring verse, very nice...
I am heading that way. When I saw the photo of the child and then read your poem it so aptly describes the heart of a mother who has to make so many choices for her children that are out of love for them, that are the best for them yet are not always well received. I am that mother in your poem today. At 16 they don't notice, at 18 they may notice, at 21 they sometimes notice but at 25...they start to be more aware.
I think they won't fully know until they are moms.
The picture is amazing. I can truly understand the poem too, wonderfully captures the essence of the art. Peace :)
gorgeous yet heartbreaking poem - wonderful write
Oh my... the photo can stand alone and take your breath away, but so can your poem! So to combine the two is just powerful! The photo is so evocative and I think you captured the essence of it so well!
your words are perfect and go with how I feel everyday about my 18 year old son....
Thanks for all the supportive comments. I was not going to post this at first...feeling a little "inadequate" about my writing. Glad that it's providing a bit of healing for you...
I think it was a wonderful poem, and for a moment we can all see ourselves at one time in our lives, just wanting to be noticed. take care.
Wonderful poem! Love your source of inspiration. I can feel the emotion throughout.

This is a great poem. I love the photo. You can feel the emotional despair. I clicked through her photo stream and I was in awe. She has a great collection of photos. Thanks for sharing. It makes me want to go take a photography class.
