Simple: pears

I love this season...pear season! After not eating very much for the past few days, my body wanted something healthy. I picked up a big bunch of pears yesterday and can't believe how delicious and juicy these are. And the color! Aren't they gorgeous? Green and blushing orange...so pretty! Ohhhhh as you can see...these just made my day.

I wish I was more crafty in the kitchen because I bet these would be so good in a tart. Oh well...I guess I will just enjoy fruit all by itself. Simple.

Anyway, I am trying to get back to the speed of life. So funny how you can put your life on hold for a few days and world keeps on going. I will admit, I loved turning completely off (although I wish it was under more fun circumstances...lol). I didn't think about anything...or worry or stress out about this or that. I think I need to do that more often (minus the sick part). Just shut down every now and then.

When was the last time you "shut down" for awhile?

Have a wonderful Monday!

Pears are a perfect recovery food! Glad you're feeling better!

Beautiful compositions and colors. Love how you've put this mosaic together.

Glad you're feeling better. The flu has been going around here...some of my daycare kids have been sick as has some of the parents...fingers crossed, it hasn't hit me yet. Hopefully it will pass me by...I'm eating lots of fruits and veggies plus taking supplements and using my trusty nettie pot on a regular basis.

The pears look yummy...I was disappointed with the last pears I bought. They didn't have much flavor at all...I'll have to try again.

beautiful pics... they look divine.. :)

beautiful pictures - glad you are feeling better. that's always a good sign when you get a bit of an appetite back.

sometimes i shut down voluntarily - sometimes it's not so voluntarily. usually it's just by walking away from the computer.

i find pears very attractive, but i am not a fan of how they taste. h ahahaha.

i hope you are feeling all better!

and that shutting down thing can be such a good thing. particularly if it happens without sickness!

I am so glad you are feeling better....

and shutting down ?...today when I got a call from my son's counselor about his awful grades....well, that did it for me....

now I need a "shutting down vacation"....

ps...I used to make banners for people, too...and loved it and even gave one away as a drawing on my blog, which I'm going to do again for christmas...anyhow, thank you for inspiring me to get back at it...I forgot how much fun I have making them and since I've learned some new techniques, it's even better than it was before....

Mmmmm pears. Great photos. I need to shut down about ...now! But too much on, so I reckon Christmas will be a great excuse to kick back and do nothing very much. Over here they have a long holiday - hubby's work shuts down from 24th December to 11 Jan!!!! So we will just HAVE to relax LOL!!

The pears look wonderful. Shut down times sounds good to me. Glad that you're feeling better :)

oh the favored fruit is getting beautiful top billing here...shutting down for me is sitting on the couch cutting birds and creating collage...very relaxing.

I shut down earlier this month for just over two weeks and it was almost surreal.
It's scary not being able to do the simplest things.
Have a good week.

Glad you are feeling better! Shutting down is very impt. I do so on a regular basis. I call them jammie days. I had one this morning. Delicious, like pears! We could also called time out like this...Sabbath. Sabbath moments, we all need more of them.

Glad you are up and going again. Your pears look so pretty, and your description sure made me want to run out and buy some. laurie

I'm so glad you are feeling better, Caroline!
I love shutting down periodically...it give me energy and revives me...brings me back to excitement for life.

And ahhhh, your pears...simply beautiful :)
Love,
Kelly

Thank you for this reminder sweetie! I also love how the simplest of things can be the most beautiful. So glad I found your blog. Come stop by for a slice of San Francisco...

Love the pears.

I need some days of shut down right now, but I don't ever do it.

Glad you are feeling better. My eldest just got hit with swine flu this weekend, but it seems a milder form so far (knock on wood, cross my fingers). So far, the rest of us don't have it, I am just holding my breath...
These pears look like just the perfect thing for coming off illness - so much life force!

I'm so glad you're feeling better! I shut down this afternoon. I think I've been sick all of November .. and really just needed rest, except apparently I was refusing to do so and worked through it. I took the afternoon off and slept through it. So lovely. :)

These images are simply beautiful!

looks so pretty and delicious. I should cook with pears more often

You have the wonderful ability to put shapes together
into nice compositions and to see when soft light is doing great things! Well done.

Loving prayers for your continued recovery. The pear photos are so enticing! I've been on an apple kick lately; crisp, sweet, juicy, delicious red apples. Every bite of fresh fruit is to be savored. Fresh is great because it's been altered so little (physically or energetically) since being on the tree, other than the handling to get it to the store or farmer's market.
The last time I shut down was when I vacationed in Mexico this past June. A full week with no Web, no phone, no news, no time - just family and fun, sunshine and laughter. It was WONDERFUL!
