WOW...is it really Monday? I am exhausted...but in that good way. The past few days have been filled with family, cooking meals, enjoying that time I don't get enough of. The house is totally decorated. The gifts bought. And I am learning new tricks :). I finally learned how to blend photos...woo hoo! Not sure why this is such a big deal to me...but it is. Now I look like I have a twin sister...lol (although I secretly always wished I had a sister).
And so the next few days are going to fly and I just want to take each day slow...enjoy the moments and savor the delicious food :)
Here's what I am making:
Turkey (my first time ever cooking one...any tips would be appreciated) another new trick to learn...yikes!
My Mom's awesome stuffing
Sweet potato and apple cassrole
Braised purple carrots with potatoes, onion & garlic
Mashed potatoes
Green beans with almonds
Fresh rolls
Pumpkin pie
Pecan pie
Hmmmm...lot's of carbs going on here! Holy yumminess! I think I will need to wear stretch pants or a dress!
What are you making this year???

Your sweet potato apple recipe sounds really good. I want to try a new sweet potato recipe this year. I will make some cranberry sage chutney too.
i will make my mom's dressing to have but we're going out to the country club for lunch because the family wants the ease of just being together with no hassle.
The dog looks like he's thinking "What the hell? Where'd this other one come from? Am I in the Twilight Zone?"
Cool effect, Caroline.
I'm making my signature pie which is a combination of carmelized apple on the bottom and pumpkin on the top. Love it.
I'm also making a casserole of brussels sprouts and carmelized shallots that I found on the WilliamsSonoma site.
yum! thanksgiving is almost here! stuffing is my favorite turkey day food. YUM. and all of the appetizers. and pie! it would be smart if i wore tight jeans so that i don't over do it!
Cool photo!
I don't have any turkey tips, but Stacey at Random Thoughts shared a recipe that sounds really awesome. She posted a different Thanksgiving favorite recipe the entire week of Oct 19th.
Champagne Turkey
I don't have a stove. LOL! How easy is that?? I'm in charge of bringing flowers.
:) Debi
Great photo Caroline....love how you are always learning new techniques, you are very inspiring!!!
I don't cook very often, in fact very rarely....I normally bring the wine.
Hugs

Calories never sounded so good! :) Your superimposed pic is looking fabulous! It's great to learn new tricks, especially when they bring you and others so much joy! :)
What a cool photo. I don't blame you for being excited about being able to do that. Sounds like you'll have a wonderful holiday. laurie
Great menu, but you must have forgotten to tell all of us what time we should be there... ;-}
Better get a bigger turkey!
How fun. What a cool photo. I would love to learn how to do that.
Your Thanksgiving menu sounds wonderful. I'm not cooking this year. We are going to my husband's family in Oregon this year, so no stress for me. I've only cooked a turkey once in my life. I do cook a lot, but not usually on Thanksgiving. If we're not going to family, we usually travel to Arizona or Utah just so I can eat at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant. Silly, but true.
What a great technique. Now your really can be in two places at once! (smiles) Mom's insisting on doing Thanksgiving again this year. She's 76 and well, wants to do it as long as she can. She cooks ahead of time and freezes a lot. Then my sister's and I come in and help out the day before. Turkey day itself there are many helpers.. How does it go... many hands make light work.... or is it too many cooks... (giggles) Good Luck with the turkey. We started using those turkey bags and they really keep the moisture in the bird. If not that, then I was always told, baste often... Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. Blessings to you and your family. Love and Light, Nina P. (happy cooking it sounds wonderful!!)
my turkey tip .. if you buy an aluminum foil pan to put it in, and it comes with a plastic cover, do not put the plastic cover in the oven. not that i would know this from experience. ;)
A stunning picture and I love how you merged yourself, it looks great!
thanksgiving was sooo last month ;)
Happy TG!
I had cheese and potato perogies...a deliciously vegetarian alternative.
When I saw the picture, I thought it was you and your sister!!
The best advice I can give for Turkey is make sure you keep basting it and keep it juicy.
Don't overcook it because Turkey dries out easily.
Here's the funny thing I don't like Turkey, when I cooked it my family would eat it up.
You will do fine and make a delicious and juicy turkey.
I don't think my family wants me to bring anything since I am the worst cook in America Caroline! I know you wouldn't want me to throw those words out there into the universe, but I fear it is true... : ) Your dinner sounds scrumptious!
I wish you would participate at I Heart Faces. Everyone would love you over there! Next week is I heart Tooshies and not faces, so get your camera ready and shoot a little tooshie : )
