Sometimes in life we need a little comfort. Some hand holding and gentleness. I love that when I walk my kids to school my little one reaches out to hold my hand. She loves holding hands (my older one is too cool for hand holding now). That tiny soft warm hand wrapped in mine brings me such happiness and comfort. And even a little security.
Other things that bring me comfort:
- my hubby sleeping next to me in bed at night
- being wrapped up in cozy blankets on a chilly night
- being safe in the house during a wicked storm
- warm thick socks
- talking to an old friend on the phone
- having my whole family together under the same roof
- my 2 big dogs that bark fiercely when a stranger comes to the door
- prayer
P.S. on a totally different subject, if you are a coffee drinker and like cinnamon...try adding a little cinnamon to the grounds...makes a really fantastic cup of joe :)

first i must say that the new header is absolutely gorgeous!
second, what brings me happiness is a lot of little things, a cup of coffee, the darkness on a winter morning before anyone else is awake in the house. the feel of new paper or sharpening pencils. watching my son sleep.
lastly, i have to say that your animal totem has helped my heart today. i absolutely understood your comment and can't thank you enough for leaving the information for me! i've heard of animal totems before but never dove deeper into it, you can bet that i am off to do a little research deeper into the subject!
thank you so much, Caroline!

What brings me comfort:
A good ending to a book.
Sharing any experience with someone else.
Selflessly, helping one in need.
Taking a photo and knowing its a keeper.
The stillness of early morning.
A perfect wild mushroom risotto.
A parent's laughter.
Comfort = my cat, curled up asleep, by my pillow at night.
It's the simple things that give me comfort. When my dog puts her head in my lap on long drives. Sitting close to my husband in his truck. That first sip of fresh brewed, crisp iced tea. Connecting with friends and family, even if it's on a social networking site. A note from a friend. Writing letters and sending out postcards. Eating good food with good people.
I could go on and on but I won't.
This is a great post and i love your photo.
i also add a bit of vanilla to the grounds too
comfort? hugs and someone just to hold my hand.
what a calm comforting photo...your space means a lot to me here!
I love cinnamon in my coffee!
I love that even at 12 Tara will still hold my hand in some situations! It still seems like the right thing to do when we cross a street or parking lot!
I love having the dog sleeping next to me on the couch. I love putting on my sweats when it is chilly. A nice mug of hot coffee brings me comfort too!!!
a little comfort and security goes a long way! a hug, a kiss, a hand squeeze, a kitty on the lap -- i love it all!
I find comfort in warm pajamas, a good book, creamy chocolate, a happy laughing family, and prayer.
Every day my comfort list seems to evolve, but a few things that remain constant is the warmth of my husband's shoulder as I drift off to sleep every night, my little girl's ability to provide bliss in every minute of the day, and my sweet pug's snuggle habits against my lap while I read.
What Brings Me Comfort:
*Hugs filled with love
*Our home
*Laughter
*Warm soup during a cold season
*Hot Chocolate w/Christmas Cartoons
*Love
*Meditation & Prayer
Beautiful shot. I've started a series on hands, inspired by a shot I got recently of some tiny hands.
I like your list so much. I'd have to agree with every one of them ... well, except the husband part technically is not quite right, lol. But the sentiment is exactly the same!
For me, running my hands through my partners hair, warm baths, the smell of rain, leaves of any kind, and oatmeal -- my own special brew -- bring me immense comfort.
p.s. I'm definitely buying your book! I love your work!!!
oh, my... there is so much that i turn to in times of comfort. my cat, sammie, laying, purring on my chest as i lay on the couch burnt out from my day, my husbands kiss when he comes home from work and my dogs ping pong bouncing as he expresses he sheer glee of being inside and haning out with his pack... oh, my life, it is good...
Coming into a warm house after a long day at work and having it smell heavenly.
The warmth of my husband when I come to bed at night.
The most beautiful dog in the world who greets me every day when I come home.
Seeing my sons talking and laughing with their friends and knowing that I must have done something right.
A day when the phone does not ring.
snuggling in bed or on our couch with husband and/or children.
Oh, I am just mesmerized by this picture. So pretty. You are the BEST photographer and editor! I need you to come help me. Editing gives me nightmares! : (
