So I did something today I have not done in almost 2 years...a spinning class! Holy cow people...it was a blast! Funny thing though...around 8AM (the class started at 10AM) I began thinking about all the things I could be doing at that time. Like going to Target, or Marshall's or Trader Joe's, or folding laundry or...or...or. Do you know how freaking hard it was to get my butt into the car and drive to the health club...oh man, it was HARD!
But I did it. I pushed myself. I did not enjoy pushing myself...but I did it anyway.
I told myself, if I go and do this class (which is 60 minutes not the typical 45...so that made it ever harder to go) I could reward myself with a little trip to Marshall's. I know...so silly, but this is just how my weird brain works. Soooo...
Off I go to class. I actually got there early and did a light 30 min workout before (I know! Crazy!). But once the class started and the music started pumping...I got into the zone. The zone is awesome. Thinking does not exist in spinning, or when you are in the zone. And I felt all the stress burn off as I pushed my body to the limit. I was sweating like an animal. But it felt so amazing. I am not a yoga type...when I work out I need to really burn it. I like loud music and an even faster beat. I feel like anything negative just gets blown out and destroyed. I honestly can't believe that I walked out of that class. But my body felt strong and my spirit was soaring (although I am pretty sure I smelled beastly...lol).
Not sure where I am going with this... Just if you are putting something off...don't. Just "push it." Push yourself. If I can do it...you can too. It's not just a "spinning class" it's anything in life that we want to do but keep putting it off.
Oh yeah! So, I did reward myself with a Marshall's trip and bought that totally cute reusable stainless steel water bottle for $7.99 (I actually bought 2 and some cute Halloween socks too). Rock on. I tried to take a cute pic of the bottle but it was kind of "meh" so I put it next to the Halloween table setting to make it more festive. I am such a dork that way!
So go and push it today...whaddya waiting for?

i like little rewards for something like that.
woo hoo!!! that is a lot of working out!!! WELL DONE!!!
i need to ride that bike of mine tonight, and i need to ride it PUSH IT!!!!!!! and good music makes a work out A LOT more fun!
I think it's a great photo just like it is. The Halloween addition is a good touch.
Spinning, though? I can't see it happening with me, but felt like routing out loud for you! Excellent!
Now don't fall down laughing here or think I am a total nerd, I thought when you sadi spinning class you meant like spinning woold or flax or something. Ahhh so not thinking about exercise obviously, but hey you go girl keep up the great work we're with you all the way.!!! Love your phot too.
I'm thinking there was a mad rush of endorphines going on here when you wrote this!!! I'm with you on the anti-yoga bit. I have to run fiercely with loud thumping music in my ears when exercising. It's a release like no other. But it's a chore to con myself into driving the 10 mins. there. I'm not sure I would do it if my son didn't have private basketball practice at the gym twice a week though. I'd much rather peruse Target as well. ;)
Hi Caroline :) I LOVE spinning. It is such a fantastic workout and hard to get in the classes because they fill up at my gym. The first time I took a spinning class I felt like I had climbed Mount Everest! I came home and slept all afternoon! I'm impressed you had energy to shop after...LOL
You go, Girl! :)
I also want to say I really love the colors and the banner you have up now...it's just so pretty :)
Love to You, Caroline!

I'm glad that you had fun! Spinning is intense, but I'm sure you feel energized. Cute little finds at the store too!
you are not a dork at all and way to get your butt to the gym, because I can't seem to do that at all these past few months...could you bottle that "push" and send some of it my way ?
but I did go to marshalls today and didn't even do anything to treat myself to the shopping I did....I am a bad girl....maybe tomorrow I'll walk around the block :)
I used to teach step class and BodyPump, and I love working out to loud music with a definite beat. Haven't been doing much other than walking and riding the recumbent bike lately because my knees won't take it anymore. :(
Good for you!
teaching a music/movement class with preschoolers everyday is my "spinning" LOVE the photo ...you are so creative!
Good for you! We each have to find what appeals and works for us. It can be so hard to get motivated when the type of exercise doesn't jazz us into doing it.
I'm fully into yoga. I can't wait for the days when I have class and then I look forward to it all day. A few Sun Salutations have me dripping sweat - off my face, neck, back, even the backs of my hands. Totally in the zone, as you say. And that's even before we start the yoga asanas where we sweat some more! And I love the music, the sense of beauty and peace, the inner calm while the outer body is so fully engaged. Loud, thumping music would have me running away. Loud doesn't do it for me.
I'm glad you had such a great time in your Spinning class! And your SS water bottle is absolutely adorable.
