Grateful

Morning light

So I did the coolest thing yesterday. I took a "gratitude walk."  Basically for the entire duration of my walk (about 40 minutes) I said thank you for...(insert all the things you are grateful for here)...  I have to say, it was pretty incredible!  Not sure what spurred this...maybe the 2 little butterflies fluttering about?  Regardless, I was able to find so many things to be thankful for...from my workout shoes, to my health, to the leaves on the trees providing shade and clean air, to chocolate, to silly movies, to good coffee, to lazy Sunday mornings, to my comfy bed and tempurpedic pillow, and this.  I think I could walk for 24 hours and still find things to be thankful for!

But the best thing about this was...I was able to focus my mind on all the wonderful things in my life (and the things I tend to take for granted).  It made me feel so alive and present.  I suggest trying this sometime.  Even if you just sit quietly for 10 minutes and say thank you over and over and over.  It's more powerful than you may think.

Well that's my "2 cents" for today.

Have a wonderful Sunday!

I did this very thing 2 weeks ago when I went to my sacred woods to walk. Usually I go and as I walk I ask for something and that day I didn't "want" anything. Instead, I told Great Spirit that "today, I want to say thank you to you for providing so much" so as I walked I said thanks for all that my senses picked up on during the time in the woods. It was incredible and VERY humbling. Glad to have experienced this very special type of walking meditation with you!!
Peace~

Love the soft romantic feel of this image. Meditative walks can be truly healing and inspirational.

I am smiling for you. :)
I truly know that feeling and I'm overjoyed you know it as well. Awesome right?

I do this as much as I can, but since I can't walk I do it in my room alone while I'm listening to some lovely meditation music or when I'm sitting in the car as we run errands.

Have A Love Filled Day :)

What a great idea! A gratitude walk! I'm going to have to do that one of these days.

I do it sometimes when I am walking a labyrinth. You're right, it's a very powerful thing to do!

A gratitude walk sounds delightful and powerful.
I have been for the past week, I say my prosperity and divine love affirmations and prayers in the morning. It has really helped me just in the way your walk did.

What a wonderful idea. A gratitude walk.
Beautiful image here, as well. Simple. Perfect.

Your gratitude walk sounds really good. Gratitude is a powerful practice. I went to a 'Science of Happiness Workshop' and one of the things that makes people happier (and they've measured this scientifically - don't ask me how) is to say thank you each day for three things (at least). Do this for a week and you will be happier than at the start of the week! I'm thankful today for my hubby - who is making me a lovely lunch (it's a bank holiday here) whie I have to work. I'm very lucky!

this is brilliant!!! i love how a good walk clears my head and lets the endorphins flood the body. it always makes me feel better. and thinking of good things while doing it would only enhance the experience!

I used to do this every morning while walking the dogs. It is amazing how much better the day starts when I remember to do this. Thanks!

Lovely thoughts and images (the plumeria - oh my!)! Years ago, I began saying "thank you, God" as much as I could, until now, it's an automatic response and nearly always on my lips. Little things, like two butterflies or the iridescent green hummingbird I spied on my walk this morning, dancing in and out of a red-bloomed bottlebrush tree. Thank you, God! A friend's phone call; thank you, God! My two legs, my two arms ... everything can be occasion for thankfulness. For Caroline's beautiful thoughts and gorgeous art in her photography: thank you, God!

oh - I love that idea - thanks for sharing it!
