Jan got me thinking today about storms (do read her post on this...good stuff!). Many times in our lives we come across a big storm that knocks us off our feet. But what about those frequent little storms that come into our lives? Like dealing with mean people, traffic, cable companies, raising kids, etc... How do you find your center in the midst of daily chaos?
I think this is why I love photography so much. Because it calms me. When I look at a photo, it can take me someplace else. I can "escape" if you will. Almost every night when the kids have gone to bed, I get on my computer and "play." But it's more than that actually. I let go. I escape. I decompress from the day. Everything just begins to melt and a deep calm washes over me. I believe that my soul heals through this process. And I NEED this. Desperately!
So what about you? How do you decompress from the day? Do you have a special ritual? Love to hear...

For me I write poetry, meditate and more recently I started doodling. Doodling truly grants me peace! Had I known this years ago I'd have books covered in my doodles. (:
I write or I paint, or take a walk and day dream...
:-)
This is such a calming, soothing photo.
(((hugs))),
love,

Your photos are just beautiful, I've been meaning to tell you...I haven't been commenting, but I always see them in my Google Reader and stop to gaze them...
Anyway, I meditate daily, but in the morning, and I actually don't do this to wind down at the end of the day, which some people assume I might...I am more of a reader, and I usually have two books going: a non-fiction one on a topic I like and a completely frivolous novel...I pick which one I need each night based on what kind of day I had!
what used to be my ritual was to come home and change into something completely comfortable and shift gears from working to the me time. then slowly make dinner.
hmmm. what do i do. honestly sometimes i just sit and stare at a blank wall. or hug a kitty. or have a glass of wine and just try to chill. and that is what i would like to do when i get home from this long work day. :)
AND YOU ARE A METALLICA FAN?!?!? hell yes! i like their old stuff. the first 3 or 4 albums are the best, and then.........not so much for me. and they put on a helluva show if you ever get a chance to see them!
A cup of tea, a walk with George, and yes, playing with my photos much like you do!
This is gorgeous. I love the texture you applied. Nicely cropped as well.
Caroline the picture is absolutely amazing. I want to go there to that exact spot on the beach now.
I come on the computer and go through blogs, it is how I relax now.
Love Renee xoxo
I crochet and knit. Also, mindless tv shows relax me somewhat!
I take photos, hike, play with the grandkids, and lay in the shade of the aspens in my back yard.
Thanks.
Caroline, I had no idea you posted on storms too until now....Wise minds?
I make sure I take 30-60 minutes at night to detox from my day. Also a hot bath. It is an important ritual for me that works every time...Of course, there are many other practices but this one is my mainstay.
This photo is SO peaceful.
For me, it's a warm bath and a good book.
