Do you remember your first "big girl" shoes? Well, I just bought a pair for my daughter...she is going to be a flower girl in a wedding this fall. When we got to the shoe store, her eyes light up (oh no, another shoe lover in the family). Then she saw them... "Please Mommy? I don't want to wear flats." How could I resist?
When we got home she tried on the shoes with the dress and danced around in such sweet happiness. She is entering a new phase in life...still a little girl, but getting a bit older.
Very bittersweet.

these are sooooo perfect !
and i can imagine her smile that goes with them !
This is one of those best moments you always remember - both of you. I still remember my first real heels - a whole inch LOL! - and the dress I wore with it. I have a painting/drawing of the dress, painted 30 years after the event. I hope it shows the joy I felt.
I love this.

Caroline, I think you are going to like my post today on letting go. :-)
I do remember my first pair of big girl shoes. I think I must have twirled a little bit too--maybe even strutted around a little. May you enjoy these precious moments with your daughter...
so very sweet
My daughter is a HUGE girly girl, but for the life of me I can not get her to wear a dress.
I bet that was a sweet time for you and your daughter. :)
Thank you for your loving words today over at my blog!
What a lovely post today, about a lovely mother~daughter day.
I do remember my first pair of big girl shoes...they looked kinda like that actually. Although I remember not wanting heels because I was terrified I would fall out of them
Thanks for visiting me at Delights of the Heart today. I love your photography and words and will return often.
Big girl shoes reminds me of a time not to many years ago where I looked down at my own shoes and realized I was wearing "Big Girl Shoes" and it dawned on me I was a big girl now. It was sort of a shock.
You bring such wonderful memories back with this post & image! And she'll look back someday........
I so enjoy the combination of your images and words!
This sure gave me a little tug at my heartstrings, Caroline. I can imagine your daughter dancing in her new grown-up shoes, the happiness lighting up her face. Hopefully, she isn't in too much of a hurry yet. Just enjoy her delight!
This is just precious. I too remember this moment in my life. Thank you for passing on such beauty. :)
Love that stage of adult sized feet with tiny childlike ankles. It's the most crucial time in a young girl's life & captured so well in this photograph. :)
Hello Caroline
You have captured the tentative little girl in the grown up shoe so well in this sepia shot as well as take us back on a little nostalgic memory ride......
enjoy your little girl and encourage her to stay a little girl - she has the whole rest of her life to be a lady...
Happy days
Aw, so lovely! Great photo and story!
